If are thinking of starting a watch collection or are in the market for a new luxury watch the first question you might have is “where do I even start?”
You want something that is high quality, will last generations (if taken care of), and that combines looks, craftsmanship, and luxury, all the while being reasonably valued.
With that in mind, luxury Swiss watchmaker Rolex might be the right choice for you. While Rolex is known for having some timepieces worth upwards of 15, 20, or even 30 thousand dollars, there are some exceptional watches that can be bought new for much more “affordable” prices.
Here are some of the cheapest Rolex watches you can buy new in 2021:
- Rolex Oyster Perpetual Series Watches
- Rolex Explorer Series Watches
- Rolex Submariner Series Watches
- Rolex Milgauss
Rolex Oyster Perpetual Series Watches
The Oyster Perpetual series has some of the cheapest Rolex watches available on the market but make no mistake, these are no less alluring. An excellent collection of timepieces that can go with any outfit be it every day, business causal, or formal. The first recommendation from this series would be the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 39 Oystersteel. This watch got an updated look in 2015, giving it a larger 39mm case (compared to its 36mm case previously,) Oyster bracelet, and updated colored dials coming in dark rhodium, red, grape, and blue. While it lacks a diving bezel, chronograph, and date indicator, it is still very stylish, extremely accurate, and comes with the classic Rolex quality. A watch like this can range close to $6,000.
Another great option from this series is the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King which will set you back about $6,500. Despite being discontinued a few years ago, it made a striking comeback just recently. The Air-King made its debut in 1945 and was a watch catered to pilots. This timepiece is a little bigger than the Oystersteel, with a 40mm case, and is quite more sturdy as it shares some components with the Rolex Explorer. This is another excellent option if you are looking at a simple yet stylish watch.
If you are dead-set on getting the classic Rolex look with a date display, then the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date 34 Blue Dial is your best bet from this series. This simple yet sophisticated-looking timepiece will range close to $6,500.
Rolex Explorer Series Watches
Known to combine luxury with ruggedness, Explorer Series also has some great cheap Rolex models you can choose from. If you want to wear your luxury watch to sporting events or during outdoor activities, then the Rolex Explorer 214270 is the watch for you. This time piece comes with a sapphire crystal, two shock absorbers, and a twin lock crown. The sportiest watch from Rolex starts out at about $6,500-$7,000 but can easily climb to about $20,000 depending on the model.
Rolex Submariner Series Watches
Perhaps one of the most recognizable Rolexes in the world, the Submariner series has a unique look that combines luxury with adventure. The Submariner made its debut in 1953 and was the first water-resistant watch to withstand diving depths of 330 feet. This is without a doubt an affordable Rolex that combines excellent quality with stunning looks. A new Submariner can set you back between $8,000-$10,000.
Rolex Milgauss
If you are in the field of science, then this watch was made for you. Literally. The Migauss was created in 1956 and was catered towards scientists. How you ask? Well this unique timepiece is made to be resistant to magnetic fields. Normally, magnetic fields averaging between 50 to 100 gauss can compromise a watch’s accuracy. Thus, this is perhaps the most accurate Rolex you can buy for the price. In terms of design it pays homage to the original made over half a century ago, while still containing the style, luxury, and reliability of modern Rolex watches. This timepiece will set you back about $10,000.
