The focus of this blog is typically related to Fancy Colored Diamonds. However, from time to time we will deviate to add something of topical interest. After seeing the artistry and true magnificence of the pieces worn by nominees, models, and presenters, we could not help ourselves to compile a list with 9 of our favorite red carpet appearances.
As opposed to most critics, we will not be looking at the way these celebrities were dressed, conversely we will be taking a look at their jewelry.
Charlize Therone
Charlize Theron made a striking appearance on this year’s red carpet as she wore a pair of magnificent earrings from Chopard’s “Garden of Kalahari” Collection. The earrings consisted of a pair of grade D, flawless, pear cut diamonds weighing 25 and 26 carats. These stones were accompanied by smaller 4.55 carat pear cut and 4.35 carat brilliant cut diamonds, all positioned in a beautiful 18K white gold setting.
To match with her breathtaking earrings, the actress wore two Chopard rings belonging to their “High Jewelry” Collection. The first ring was comprised of a pear cut, 7.11 carat diamond accompanied by 1.14 carat stones, while the second consisted of a single 4.04 carat clear diamond. Both rings had the same 18K white gold setting to hold the beautiful stones.
Nicole Kidman
Nominee for best actress in a supporting role, Nicole Kidman caught everyone’s attention as she appeared wearing more than 119 carats of Harry Winston jewels. Starting from the top, the actress wore a Winston cluster diamond and spinel drop platinum and 18K yellow gold earrings; a splash diamond bracelet in platinum, a vintage Winston cluster diamond bracelet in platinum from 1963, and a Winston cluster pear cut diamond ring also set in platinum.
Janelle Monáe
Janelle Monáe made a striking appearance wearing an assortment of Forevermark diamond worth $1.5 million. Her attire consisted of Forevermark cluster stud earings set in 18K yellow gold and an exceptional radiant Forevermark Fancy Intense Yellow diamond with site trillions weighing 13.02 carats set in platinum. Her hands were beautifully decorated with 3, 2-stone rings. The first, a 10.88K platinum ring holding a 5.03 carat radiant diamond and a 5.02 carat Fancy Yellow radiant diamond. The second, a 18K white gold ring with round and a pear cut diamonds weighing 8.52 carats. The third, a18K white and yellow gold ring encompassing two 2.20 carat Fancy Yellow diamonds.
Octavia Spencer
Octavia Spencer, best actress in a supporting role nominee also decided to impress by wearing $1.2 million worth of Forevermark diamond jewelry. Her earrings were a beautiful pair of princess cut, 18.61 carat diamonds set in 18K white gold. On her wrist, she wore an 18K white gold eternity band holding 9.04 carats of Forevermark Rahaminov diamonds. Finally, her ring stood out the most with a 9.04 carat Asscher set in platinum.
Karlie Kloss
Actresses were not the only ones to “wow” guests and viewers. Model Karlie Kloss also managed to steal the spotlight, wearing an 18K white gold choker holding 38 carats worth of magnificent clear diamonds from the Nirav Modi Mughal Collection. Her 18K white and rose gold earstuds also impressed spectators as they consisted of more than 5 carats of diamonds from the Entremblant Collection.
Auli’i Cravalho
The voice of Disney’s latest animated success “Moana” Auli’i Cravalho certainly impressed with a Disney Princess-like appearance. Accompanying the look of her dress, she wore matching bracelet and earrings by Maxior, however, what impressed us the most was her beautiful rare pink diamond ring by Harry Kotlar.
Robin Roberts
Robin Roberts managed to amaze us this year with gold overtones. Her $10,000 18K David Yurman chatelaine gold flower ring held black onyx pieces, rhodalite garnets and a captivating green tourmaline. As diamond enthusiasts however, what impressed us the most was her mosaic cuff with cognac diamonds set in white gold, and her pebble earrings with cognac and citrine diamonds set in 18K gold. Both pieces also offered by David Yurman.
Salma Hayek
Salma Hayek may not have been adorned with myriads of colors and gold however, the jewelry she chose managed to secure her a place on our list. She appeared wearing a 19th century French laurel leaf diamond headband, 19th century diamond chandelier earrings, and an 18th century rose cut diamond cluster silver on gold ring.
Scarlet Johansson
Last but certainly not least, Scarlet Johansson was another actress that managed to impress with her choice of non-contemporary jewelry. Her choices consisted of a 1930’s pair of earrings consisting of pear cut diamonds set in platinum, a pair of mid century Belperron, three row diamond cuff earrings, and a beautiful 9k Art Deco platinum ring holding an old European style cut diamond.
